Administrative History	An ancient parish church, originally serving the Lancashire townships of Ashton-in-Makerfield, Culcheth, Golborne, Haydock, Houghton Middleton & Arbury, Kenyon, Lowton, Newton-in-Makerfield, Southworth with Croft and Winwick with Hulme. Transferred from Lancashire to Cheshire in 1974.For later records, see also the parishes of Croft with Southworth, Culcheth, Hollinfare and Orford St. Andrew.
